Returning to The Drawing Club

At last some time to return to The Drawing Club, to draw the
wonderful Daniella as a Mod fashion model of the 60's...

People Observed

More time spent at Kaiser hospitals...
the waiting room, a lobby, and the cafeteria.
Once again sketching gets me through
some long hours of waiting...

At Christmas time...

Very young doctors,
and not so young patients...

Occupy LA

These are a few quick sketches I made downtown

at the site of Occupy LA.  I did these on the day
the city told everyone to pack up and leave by
midnight...no one seemed to be in hurry to do
that...and a few days later, the police finally came en masse to dismantle the encampment.  I felt I had to come see it for myself, and do what I do, which is draw..

Some Quick Sketches...

Last fall I joined the
Worldwide Sketchcrawl
for the first time...when the
Los Angeles group
met at Descanso Gardens,
a favorite location of mine.
Drawing fellow sketchers
was a lot of fun...

More quick sketches...
some local cafes
and a karaoke bar...

...and my mechanic and assistant
solving the mysteries of a truck
engine while my car waits patiently
(this of course is a sketching
opportunity!)

Hollywood

Drawing people on location in Los Angeles would eventually lead to Hollywood...and visiting some famous tourist spots, where the people are at least as interesting as the places!

Here are some stops in Hollywood...at Hollywood and Highland and Grauman's Chinese Theater...

The Walk of Fame in front of Grauman's...

 Lunch in Hollywood across from
the "Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre"...

...and Hollywood hopefuls along Vine and coming from the Los Angeles Film School on Sunset Boulevard...

The Grand Central Market...

To anyone who has kindly checked in here now and then, my apologies for getting so far behind!  It's definitely time to update...

One of the greatest places in Los Angeles
to watch and draw people is the
Grand Central Market downtown...
on the last couple of visits--"Economy Meats"
and Valeria's--where you can get
just about any kind of dried chile...

...fresh vegetables and fruit too!

City People...

...another summer day at Barnsdall Park in East Hollywood...a Capoiera group from
Silver Lake shows up to practice.  This has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen!

...along Sunset Blvd. in Silver Lake...

At the recent "Art in the Streets" exhibition at the Geffen Contemporary, Los Angeles...waiting to get in, and some exhibition views...
